There are a good choice of Ski resorts within a 30 minute drive from Arreau..... all have a good selection of runs and are very family-friendly too.
One of the most popular ski resorts, with an altitude of 1700-2500m, 100kms of piste consisting of 55 runs and 3 snowparks. Accessible from St.Lary village by 2 cable cars.
Ski-station at an altitude of 1600-2400m, with 51 runs and 3 snowparks.
The highest ski station in the French Pyrenees, close to the border of Spain with an altitude of 1850-2600m it's the resort with the most guaranteed snow and therefore has the longest season. 65kms of piste with 41 runs.
Val Louron -
One of the smallest (and cheapest) ski-stations, and the closest to Arreau. It's ideal for beginners with 20 runs in total and an altitude of 1465-2100m.
Grand Tourmalet - La Mongie et Barèges
The biggest skiable domaine in the French Pyrenees, comprising of 2 stations - La Mongie and Barèges with an altitude of 1400-2300m have over 100kms of pistes including 68 runs and a snowpark.

At an altitude of 1600-1800kms Nisto has amazing views of the 4 valleys. With 55 cross-country runs, 15kms of raquettes walking tracks, and 2 sledging runs there is something for all the family. It's accessible to all to have a go and you can hire the equipment on-site as well.
A station at the base of the Col d'Aspin at a lower altitude of 1100 - 1500m, around the lake of Payolle and the surrounding forests. Cross-country and raquette walking tracks, a great sledging run for the kids plus several cafés and restaurants to enjoy.
